Doterra Essential Oils for Daily use:
When someone starts learning to use essential oils, there are many things which I share with them.  Since we all have such busy lives now, I am going to share some oil  basics  with you to help you get started.  First of all, this information is regarding Doterra Essential Oils that have been tested for purity and potency for your safety and effectiveness.  If you haven't started using doTerra Essential Oils to make a positive impact on your health yet;  Contact me at the Doterra link above and I would love to help .  I am happy to personally spend time with you on the phone to answer any questions that you have.

There are three basic ways to use just 12 basic Essential Oils.

Aromatically:  From the palm of our hand, we can diffuse oils, by simply putting one drop in your hand and rubbing our hands to create warmth. Then cup our hands close to our face and breathe in.  We can do this with most oils.  One reason for this would be to have a positive effect on our mood.  Peppermint is wonderful for alertness.  Lemon and other citrus oils are mood elevators.  Frankincense, Copaiba, and Adaptive help with stress and sadness.  Lavender is for calming.  For sinus issue:  one drop each Peppermint, Lemon, Oregano, Tea Tree in a steamy pot of water and put a towel over head and breathe in.  Any of these also be used in a diffuser.  I have found 4 drops Breathe in the diffuser at night to be a snore reducer.

Internally:  When using essential oils internally, we can put the oil in capsules, in honey, in a glass of water, and even in cooking as has been done in the food industry for a long time.  One drop goes a long way.  Not all oils can be used internally.  (Some plants are not meant to be taken internally.  Also, not all companies produce essential oils that are safer consumption.)  I am grateful that we have options, because every body is different and our family's needs change.  For the very young and the elderly, internal use is not typically recommended.  How wonderful that we can have these loved ones benefit from the same wonderful properties aromatically and topically.
Details are all covered in free online continuing education classes which I would be happy to help you get started with as soon as your oils are on their way.
For my family, so that we are not absent from our activities, we use an immune supporting combination.  One drop Frankincense or Copaiba, lemon, Onguard, Oregano, Tea Tree.  A throat comfort combination would be to put one drop each of Peppermint, Lemon, Onguard, Tea tree in a spoonful of honey.

Topically:  There are so many reasons to use essential oils topically: muscles, bruises, pain, inflammation, and also to be absorbed into the body to affect other areas, such as on the tummy for tummy upset, back of neck and forehead for aching head.   There are few oils we can apply neat, but usually we will dilute oils when using topically.  A great way to do this is to put the essential oils in a roller bottle with Fractionated Coconut Oil or other carrier oil.  This can prevent skin irritation, but also helps the skin absorb the essential oils more effectively.  Since as you know, when we applied essential oils to the skin; we were able to diffuse them from our hands, we know that some of the oils applied to the skin will go into the air and not get absorbed into our body.  Because of this, we add a carrier to slow the evaporation rate.
